A Working KITAS is a Limited Stay Permit (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas) issued to foreigners who are employed by an Indonesian company. It allows the holder to reside in Indonesia for a specific period while performing the job stated in the permit.
To obtain a Working KITAS, the foreigner must be sponsored by an Indonesian employer. The employer is responsible for securing the necessary approvals from the Indonesian government, including:
- RPTKA (Foreign Manpower Utilization Plan)
- Work Permit approval (now integrated into immigration and manpower systems)
- Visa authorization before entry (or conversion if already in Indonesia)
A Working KITAS is usually valid for 6 months or 12 months and can be extended as long as employment continues and requirements are met.
Key points about a Working KITAS:
- It is job- and company-specific (you cannot work for another company without a new permit).
- It allows multiple entry and exit from Indonesia.
- It is different from a Business Visa, which does not allow employment or receiving a salary in Indonesia.
Documents from the candidates staff:
- Passport scan. It should be still valid for a minimum 18 months.
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Bachelor or expertise certificate
- Photographs
- Bank statement with US $2,000 at minimum.
Documents from the company:
- The latest notary deed
- NIB and all documents issued by OSS
- BPJS certificate
- Tax identification number or NPWP
- Working contract plan between the company and the candidate.
- ID from an Indonesian act as a companion.
